Esmie Human

Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Esmie Human moved to Australia with her family after spending several wonderful years living and working in New Zealand. She is excited to embrace the sunshine and outdoor lifestyle, and continues to bring her passion for helping children thrive through meaningful, play-based learning.

Esmie loves exploring the world through the eyes of her two boys, Sean  and Rudi, who inspire her daily both personally and professionally. She believes that a family-centred approach is essential to the success of therapy, working in partnership with families to unlock each child’s unique potential.

Esmie completed her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2005 at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. After gaining early experience in a paediatric private practice, she developed a deep interest in sensory integration therapy and later completed a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (Neurological and Developmental Disorders) in 2013.

Since then, Esmie has worked extensively in sensory and developmental paediatrics, supporting children across a wide range of ages and abilities. She is passionate about helping children engage in learning using all their senses and creating playful, positive experiences that build confidence and independence. Esmie has been working in the pediatric field for over 20 years and working with babies to teenagers.

Esmie continues to nurture her professional curiosity and one day hopes to complete her doctorate in paediatric occupational therapy.

Samuel Toledo

Occupational Therapist

Sam is a new graduate Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting children and young people to build confidence, independence and meaningful skills for everyday life. He brings a warm, energetic and person-centred approach to his work and enjoys creating therapy sessions that are engaging, practical and tailored to each individual.

Prior to graduating as an Occupational Therapist, Sam gained seven years’ experience as a Disability Support Worker and four years as a Therapy Assistant. He has also completed a range of university placements, with a strong focus on paediatrics. This combination of practical experience and occupational therapy training has given Sam a broad understanding of disability, functional participation and the importance of supporting people within the context of their everyday lives.

Sam has a particular interest in paediatrics and enjoys helping children and young people develop their skills, confidence, independence and participation in meaningful activities. He brings enthusiasm, creativity and a positive attitude to sessions, adapting activities to reflect each person’s strengths, interests and goals while keeping therapy motivating and enjoyable.

Sam strongly values person-centred and family-centred practice. He believes the individual and their family should be at the heart of the therapy process, with their priorities and goals guiding intervention. He also values working collaboratively with families, support networks and the wider therapy team to ensure therapy is practical, meaningful and relevant to everyday life.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys swimming, surfing, cycling, spending time at the beach and exploring the outdoors. He also enjoys cooking, reading fiction, trying new things, and spending time with family and friends.

Trudie Warner

Senior Occupational Therapist

Trudie is an experienced Occupational Therapist with more than 30 years in the profession and a genuine passion for helping people live with greater independence, confidence and quality of life. Throughout her career, she has worked across a broad range of clinical areas, including musculoskeletal injuries, orthopaedics, neurological conditions, mental health and rehabilitation.

She has extensive experience completing comprehensive functional assessments, prescribing assistive technology and equipment, and assessing and recommending complex home modifications. Trudie enjoys looking beyond a diagnosis to understand how a person’s health, environment, routines and support network affect their everyday life, and then working with them to find practical solutions that make a meaningful difference.

At the heart of Trudie’s practice is connection. She values taking the time to really get to know each client, understand what is important to them, and build a relationship based on trust, respect and genuine collaboration. She believes that the best outcomes come from listening carefully, recognising each person’s strengths, and developing recommendations that are realistic, individualised and aligned with their own goals.

Trudie is passionate about supporting clients and families through what can often be challenging or complex circumstances. She brings warmth, experience and practical problem-solving to her work, and finds it incredibly rewarding to see clients achieve goals that improve their independence, participation and everyday life.
